Valuing People Now

Valuing People

Valuing People is the government's plan for making the lives of people with learning disabilities, their families and carers better.

It is based on people having:

  • their rights as citizens
  • inclusion in local communities
  • choice in daily life
  • real chances to be independent

How is Valuing People happening?

Valuing People said that local councils should set up Learning Disability Partnership Boards in each area. They should bring together people from Social Services and health services, people with learning disabilities, family carers, people from housing, education and other organisations.

Report This is our PATH written on 12 July 2004 and reviewed in July 2006.  It sets out the vision for our Partnership Board for the next 5 years.  (Warning!! This is a large document, please be patient).
